- Description
- The Norse expanded their occupation from Greenland to North America about the time of 1000 A.D. Analyses on radiocarbon data, historical data, and artefactual evidence from L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, Canada proves their existence on new lands. This study re-evaluates the old radiocarbon dates from the preliminary excavations in the 1960’s with a more recent calibration curve in order to come to a better understanding of the chronology of the occupation of the site. The calibrated date range of Norse occupation based on the new results from this study suggest a narrower period of activity at the site.
